摘要

Electromagnetic stirring (EMS) is a well-known technique used by steelmakers to improve the quality of steel. The effect of EMS on the inclusion movements and solidification behavior is investigated by combining the electromagnetic, solidification and inclusion tracking model in the curve and straight mold bloom caster. A time-varying electromagnetic field (EMF) is considered in present investigation. The enthalpy-porosity technique and stochastic tracking approach are used for the solidification and inclusion tracking model. The results of curve mold caster are compared with the straight mold caster. It was found that curve mold significantly affects the inclusion movements and solidification behavior. The effect of various inclusion sizes and densities on the inclusion movements is considered in the present investigation. The results show that inclusion morphology affects the inclusion movements.
