Simulations of a Single Bubble Collapse in a Generalized Newtonian Fluid
摘要
We will study the collapse of a bubble near a wall in a generalized Newtonian fluid. While the collapse of bubbles in Newtonian fluids has been thoroughly studied, the number of studies on bubble collapse in non-Newtonian fluids is considerably less. However, several liquids like aqueous polymer solutions and blood show non-Newtonian rheological behaviour, where cavitation and subsequent collapse of bubbles lead to essential applications. The problem is solved by discretizing axisymmetric multiphase compressible Navier–Stokes equations using CLS-WENO-AO(4,3). Two types of liquids are considered, shear-thinning and shear-thickening. Detailed comparisons regarding wall pressure, formation of re-entrant jet and evolution of bubble after the collapse are made.
