Applications

The utilization of UDA has proven effective across a range of application domains, encompassing computer vision (CV), natural language processing (NLP), time-series data analysis, etc. In this chapter, we focus our discussion on the practical application significance of UDA across diverse domains. In computer vision, we center on visual classification, object detection, and semantic segmentation as the most extensively explored tasks. For other applications, we highlight natural language processing, time-series analysis, and the usefulness of UDA for tackling the data sparsity and cold start problems commonly encountered in recommender systems. Through the discussion, we aim to provide an overview of the wide-ranging utility of UDA in real-world machine learning scenarios.
