Poland and Pakistan
摘要
This chapter examines political, economic, and trade relations between Poland and Pakistan since 1947 to the present. Drawing on declassified documents of the Polish MFA, it outlines Warsaw’s efforts to establish diplomatic relations with Pakistan. It explains how the events of 9/11 transformed Pakistan into the ‘logistical backyard’ and crucial conduit for the trans-shipment of heavy equipment and supplies to the Polish contingent in Afghanistan. It discusses the image of Pakistan in Poland, cultural relations, and concludes that economics will be the main driver of relations.
