Free Will and Communication: Predictability of Actions

As we saw in the previous chapter, the interpretation of the concept of probability hinges on whether the events and phenomena that occur in the world are governed by causal laws or whether there exists an element of uncaused randomness. If we conclude that the events and phenomena that occur in the world are indeed governed by deterministic laws, then we will be forced to ascribe any uncertainty man has about those events and phenomena to man’s ignorance and not to some “objective” characteristic of the world, because all outcomes, events, and phenomena in a causally deterministic world have absolutely certain causes.
