The Ontology of Communication: Defining the Essence
摘要
If such a thing as communication philosophy can actually exist, one of the first questions it will preoccupy itself with is the basic definition of communication, or at least an attempt to develop a clear understanding of what communication is. Of course, to some extent, this question has been addressed by various communication theories within the scope of communication science, and the term “communication” has been in use for a while. However, if the direct aim of communication philosophy is to understand the process of communication and how it functions, then such a philosophy should also acknowledge that some of the existing theories are either unsatisfactory, confused and misleading, or both.
