The Drunken Archaeologist

I recently read an amusing book, The Drunken Botanist, which is about plants that make and mix alcohols (Fig. 11.1). I almost never drink except for certain social occasions because of physical reasons and because I don’t like feeling giddy. But that doesn’t stop me from enjoying the book or thinking about the archaeological issues related to alcohol. Ever since ancient times, alcohol has been playing an imperative role in the history of mankind.
