Foreword

I would like to begin by clarifying that this book is not a work that rigorously demonstrates the origin of Chinese cultural genes but a loosely structured collection of essays centered on this topic. Despite the somewhat incompact structure, the underlying logic is fairly explicit and consistent. Namely, cultural genes are not something that has been there from the beginning but the product of reaching a particular evolutionary stage and are closely related to some long-standing factors.
