Study on Wave Climate Characteristics and Extreme Conditions in Beibu Gulf
摘要
The Beibu Gulf is located in the northwestern part of the South China Sea, which is a convenient harbour in southwestern China. The sea has great potential for development, but is accompanied by frequent marine hazards. In this paper, we use the reconstructed wind field overlaid with a typhoon model to drive the SWAN model to obtain 30 years (1991–2020) of wave field data in Beibu Gulf and analyze the long-term and extreme wind and wave characteristics of the sea. The Tthe interior of the Beibu Gulf, the wave height is mainly distributed at 0.5–1.5 m and the maximum wave height in winter reaches 2.5 m. In addition, the P-III algorithm was used to calculate the maximum wave height of 11 m and the maximum wind speed of 32 m/s for the 100-year return period in Beibu Gulf.
