摘要

Technological advancements like augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and extended reality (XR) have opened new educational avenues in the past decade. However, early advancements have neglected the impact of virtual learning environments (VLEs) on students with intellectual disabilities (IDs). Different focus groups help students with intellectual disabilities to make learning easy. Teaching and training in the VLE could eliminate spatial and cognitive limitations. VLE could foster secure learning by allowing one to control the external stimuli that could otherwise hamper learning. Students with ID could learn different life skills at their own pace, and with the advanced VLE, these skills could easily be transformed into the real world. VLE has been used to teach daily life skills and can even enhance academic, job, social, and interview skills. The constructivism of the VLE has great potential to enhance step-by-step learning and experiential guidance. We analyze the role of VLE in enhancing learning for higher education students with ID.
