摘要

For the reason of decreasing petroleum derivatives and decaying natural conditions, makers of SI engines are focusing on enhancing fuel efficiency and reducing exhaust emissions. Utilization of swirl motion within the chamber of the engine is a technique by which emission as well as performance of SI engine can be enhanced. Swirl motion during intake stroke can be created in the chamber of an engine by utilizing an intake valve with shroud. From the literature, it is seen all other intake valves have high mean flow coefficient and less swirl ratio in comparison to 180° shrouded intake valve. Therefore, the understanding about the pressing along the surface of 180° shrouded intake valve will help in conceptualization and development of a shrouded intake valve having for better mean flow coefficient with high swirl ratio. In this context, a computational study has been carried out using Ansys Fluent 14 to determine the pressure experienced along the surface of the shroud of 180° shrouded intake valve.
