Fungi-Assisted Biosynthesis of Nanoparticles and Their Effect on Plant Pests and Pathogens

Agriculture deals with crop production to feed human beings. Agricultural issues like food security could be solved with the help of nanotechnology applications. Nanotechnology is a modern technology that could play a key role in fulfilling the growing food demand. Nanoparticles may be helpful in the treatment and monitoring of crop diseases. The use of fungi has many applications in the industry such as in food preservation, control, and pathogen detection. Nanomaterials obtained by other methods are expensive. Myco-based synthesis of nanoparticles is cost-effective. In this chapter, we summarized the role of fungi in nanoparticle synthesis and their use in improving crop yield and reducing plant diseases.
