Healing Circles for Re-rooting People of Color
摘要
This chapter highlights the significance of culture in círculos (circles), particularly those held in NCN’s own healing approach, called La Cultura Cura (LCC). The chapter shares the authors’ practice-informed perspective on culture as the key aspect shaping the structure, purpose, and effectiveness of LCC círculos. It shares agency data to ground the discussion on the value of culture in well-being and discusses cultural aspects of LCC círculos, including worldview and beliefs, symbolism and rituals, communication styles, and community. The chapter lifts up the role of culture as ancestral wisdom that orients and guides, creating safe spaces where people can share, connect, grow, and heal. With the growing use of círculos to foster mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being, LCC círculos are poised to advance integrative medicine by promoting a holistic approach to well-being, fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration, recognizing the mind-body-spirit connection, and integrating cultural practices.
