摘要

The lithium ion battery is ubiquitous around the world especially in electric vehicle. The adoption of electric vehicle is hindered due to high refueling time. The charging time is reduced by adopting different charging methodologies. This article proposes temperature-controlled pre-accelerated charging strategy where battery is charged by current that is twice the maximum current limit provided by manufacturer until the temperature of the battery reaches a pre-defined temperature. The charging current is then reduced to maximum current limit until the terminal voltage reaches its maximum value, then the battery is charged by constant voltage method. An electro-thermal-aging model of a Samsung 18,650–2500 mAh is developed for the simulation study. The proposed charging strategy is compared with the conventional fast CC–CV charging strategy based on the proposed charge–discharge methodology. The simulation results show the proposed charging strategy charges battery faster by 11 min with similar temperature rise and cycling aging compared by conventional CC–CV charging.
