Study of Shallow Foundation for Runway with Liquefaction Effect

摘要

The construction of a new airport in Yogyakarta is needed due to the increasing number of tourists and the old airport cannot accommodate. The location of the new airport is in Kulon Progo Regency. Kulon Progo Regency has a peak ground acceleration (PGA) of up to 0.4 g. In addition, the location of the airport has a soil condition that is dominated by sandy soil. Considering the soil condition which is dominated by sandy soil and the high PGA value, this location has the potential for liquefaction. Due to the potential for liquefaction, soil compaction has been carried out in the construction of the airport. Currently, the runway has been built with a length of 325 m and a width of 45 m. This study discusses the calculation of the soil layer with the potential for liquefaction in the soil data before and after soil improvement and planning alternative shallow foundations in the runway area. Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that the soil layer that has the potential to liquefy with soil data before compaction in the runway area as deep as 2 m. The design of chicken claw foundation in the runway area has dimensions of 325 m × 45 m with a thickness of 0.15 m and a known pipe length of 10 m.
