Adaptation and Sustainability of Mangosteen Farming as Impacts of Climate Change in Puspahiang District, Tasikmalaya Regency

Climate change can impact mangosteen production when mangosteen trees do not bear fruit due to prolonged dry or high-intensity rainy seasons. So, it affects the growth of the mangosteen tree and the fruit produced. This research aims to analyze the sustainability of mangosteen farming in the face of climate change and how farmers adapt. The research method uses a survey method. The research was conducted in the Puspahiang district, Tasikmalaya Regency. The technique for determining the location using the purposive sampling method is based on the consideration that the place is a center for mangosteen plants. The data used is primary data and secondary data. The population was mangosteen farmers, and the sample was determined using a simple random sampling method. The analysis method used is the RAP-mangosteen approach. The tests used are leverage analysis and multidimensional scaling (MDS). The research results show that the sustainability status of mangosteen farming based on ecological and social dimensions is in the sustainable category, while the sustainability of the economic dimension is in the less sustainable category. The adaptation steps taken are adjustments to farming systems, which include adjusting the use of planting time, using water-saving irrigation techniques, developing technology to find new water sources, and increasing the ability of farmers and extension workers to understand climate change through field schools. The most important thing that needs to be done is measuring carbon stocks.
