Performance Evaluation of Spatial Rainfall Estimation Algorithm Based on Satellite Himawari Product in Greater Jakarta
摘要
This research will evaluate the performance of one of the satellite-based rainfall estimation algorithms, namely Convective Stratiform Technique (CST) and Modified Convective Stratiform Technique (mCST). These algorithms need to be verified against observational data on a spatial scale by considering important aspects of rainfall, namely intensity, object structure, and rainfall location. The spatial verification method used is Structure Amplitude Location (SAL). The research was conducted during the period December 2019–February 2020 on an hourly time basis. The results of this study show that projections using both algorithms, CST and mCST, provide a good overview of hourly rainfall estimates for the Jabodetabek area. The CST and mCST algorithms show very good consistency for medium category rainfall estimation in the Jabodetabek area. However, both have a significant bias in estimating rainfall in the very light and extreme rain categories. However, based on the spatial verification results, the mCST algorithm performs better than the CST method. The mCST algorithm produces a median value that is closer to 0, namely 1.0 for component A and − 0.3 for component S. While the mCST algorithm produces a higher median value, namely component A of 1.7 and component S of 1.0.
