Twice Sentenced to Death and Twice Rehabilitated. Gazymbek Beremzhanov (1896–1938)

The chapter tells about the journalist and public figure G. Beremzhanov, who, along with other Kazakh students, went to the Southwestern Front to provide support to the Kazakhs mobilized for rear work. He was involved in the formation of the Alash militia. During the famine of the 1920s, while participating in the organization of humanitarian aid to Russian provinces, he criticized the predatory method of confiscation of livestock in Kazakhstan. He graduated from the Higher School in Germany in 1928, and upon his return came under repression.
