Role and Development of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Sustainable Development Goals

Pharmaceutical sciences plays an important role towards attaining the sustainable development goals 2030. Different innovative strategies, schemes, and plans are laid down by different countries towards achieving the goals. India also works progressively since 2016 to achieve the SDGs to its best by 2030. Indian government has taken many initiatives as well as implemented multiple schemes for achieving the goals. Initiatives include advances in pharmaceutical research and development thus providing better medicines to all, and supplying medicines to different diseases or to poor people also helps to eradicate the burden of communicable-disease-related mortalities in the country. The annual reports of SDGs by the United Nations are discussed in the chapter. The chapter also highlights in brief about the history and the current scenario of growth and development in pharmaceutical sciences and the status of different health-related issues towards achieving sustainable development goals.
