Role of Microbiology for Sustainable Development in India
摘要
This article highlights the critical role microbiologists play in advancing sustainable development goals (SDGs), particularly within the Indian context. Microbiologists contribute to various sectors, including healthcare, agriculture, environmental protection, and industry, to address challenges related to poverty, public health, water management, sustainable agriculture, clean energy, sustainable industry, climate change mitigation, and environmental conservation. Their expertise in studying microorganisms and their interactions is vital for achieving these SDGs and ensuring a more sustainable and equitable future. Collaboration and interdisciplinary efforts with government agencies, NGOs, and the private sector are emphasized to drive progress towards these goals in India. Microbiologists serve as key contributors to scientific insights, evidence-based policies, and practical solutions that align with the SDGs, promoting sustainable development and addressing societal and environmental challenges.
