Exploring Plant Transcription Factor Databases and Regulatory Networks

This chapter provides an analysis of the involvement of transcription factors (TFs) in plant genomes. To enhance the knowledge of the regulatory mechanisms involving TFs and their interactions, we explored data from multiple sources including PlantTFDB and PlantRegMap. The upgraded PlantTFDB, now known as PlantRegMap, plays a central role in this analysis by providing genomic TF repertoires across various lineages of green plants. It offers high-quality data on TFs, their functions, and regulatory interactions in plants. This resource allows for research on TFs and their impact on plant gene regulation. This chapter delves into the role of transcription factors (TFs) and their regulatory networks in plants, with a focus on understanding how TFs influence gene expression in response to abiotic stress. It draws from a multitude of sources, including the PlantRegMap database. Notably, this chapter emphasizes the importance of TFs in response to cold, heat, light, salt, and water deprivation in Arabidopsis thaliana. In summary, this chapter highlights the significance of TFs. By utilizing databases such as PlantRegMap, researchers can uncover critical connections between TFs and abiotic stress responses, thereby contributing to the advancement of plant science and agriculture. Further research in this area will continue to enrich knowledge and drive innovative applications in plant biology and crop improvement.
