Research on Optimum Autofrettage Pressure of Thick-Walled Cylinders

The method of calculating the value of the optimum autofrettage pressure for thick-walled cylinders based on the von Mises yield criterion and considering the Bauschinger effect is proposed in this paper. The internal stress distribution of the autofrettaged thick-walled cylinder under working load is obtained through the simulation. The results of the simulation demonstrate that the autofrettage technology has a significant effect on improving the load-bearing capacity of the cylinder and the optimum autofrettage pressure can maximize the load-bearing capacity of the cylinder.
