摘要

This research investigates how Reconfigurable Manufacturing Systems (RMS) can be integrated with Matrix Manufacturing Systems (MMS). The study utilizes a novel approach of applying visual simulations to illustrate the operation and potential challenges of Matrix RMS in a real-world context. The simulations demonstrate how the system can adjust production capacity and functionality in response to changing demands, utilizing robotic arm movements, manual labour, mobile manipulators, and advanced manufacturing technologies. While the results confirm the potential of Matrix RMS in enhancing operational efficiency and accommodating diverse product requirements, it also uncovers issues relating to production interruption during reconfiguration, the need for specialized skills, and the slow speed of part movement by mobile manipulators. The findings of this study underscore the need for further research on automated solutions for programming and setting up machines and alternatives to mobile manipulators for part transportation.
