摘要

As tourism stakeholders continue to tackle the effects of COVID-19 and its impacts, there has been a growing awareness regarding the importance of sustainability and the role education can play within this scope. Focusing on an interdisciplinary project involving Tourist Activities Management students, this paper describes a strategy designed to foster students’ awareness towards sustainability and the role it plays in the tourism industry. Implemented in the summer semester of 2021, this project relied heavily on collaboration and creativity, and aimed to bridge the gap between theory and practice by engaging students’ critical thinking. Drawing from the literature and previous research, the authors set out to frame the activities carried out, providing an overview of the affordances of tourism education and interdisciplinarity, and an example of how to engage students, reflecting on their learning journey and perceptions, as well as on project’s strengths and shortcomings, thus informing future initiatives within this field.
