Antioxidant and Anti-Inflammatory Activity of 4-Hexylresorcinol
摘要
This chapter discusses the role of 4HR ointment in dental injury treatment and its potential to reduce oxidative stress and inflammation. Dental procedures can induce oxidative stress, leading to an increase in pro-inflammatory molecules such as TNF-α and IL1β. Antioxidants like 4HR can alleviate oxidative stress and facilitate tissue healing. The study found that 4HR treatment reduced hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidative stress in dental pulp cells, decreased expression levels of TNF-α and IL1β, and improved total antioxidant capacity and GPx levels. In a tooth fracture model, 4HR application resulted in fewer blood clots and better cellular regeneration, indicating its potential to support dental pulp tissue repair. The chapter concludes that 4HR ointment shows promise in reducing oxidative stress and downregulating inflammatory cytokine expression, which may improve therapeutic outcomes. Further investigation using other models is warranted.
