Cerebellar Examination and Examination of Posture and Gait

The cerebellum is the largest part of the hindbrain and second largest part of the brain as a whole and has an approximate weight of 150 g. It is located in the posterior cranial fossa underneath the tentorium cerebelli and behind the pons and medulla oblongata and is separated from the pons and medulla by the fourth ventricle. The cerebellum is connected to the brainstem by three pairs of large fibre tracts called cerebellar peduncles (superior cerebellar peduncle to midbrain, middle cerebellar peduncle to pons and inferior cerebellar peduncle to the medulla).
