Building a Resilient IoT Security Architecture with Zero Trust Intrusion Detection

The Internet of Things (IoT) has rapidly expanded into a major research topic. From smart mobiles to smart refrigerators, IoT devices are everywhere. Thus, security has become a crucial topic of concern. The intrusion detection system (IDS) allows IoT devices to protect themselves against both known and unknown threats. IDSs typically take one of two approaches: anomaly-based or signature-based. While the combination of these two methods is effective against most attacks, there are still a few sophisticated attacks that can bypass the security rules established by the IDS. To address these emerging threats, this paper proposes a model that involves redesigning the entire IoT network architecture to build a more efficient and secure network. This model also incorporates a hybrid IDS to provide comprehensive protection against threats. The experimental results show that when compared to competing hybrid IDS, our proposed model has a better detection rate of 97% on average.
