摘要

Areca palm plant is a cultivated plant other than oil palm which can grow well on peatlands. The areca palm plant is a type of palm family with the Latin name Areca Catechu L. Often the areca palm plant dies from pests and diseases that attack this plant. Yellow leaf spot, red rust, and yellow leaf disease are the main diseases that attack areca plants. Identification of diseases in areca palm plants is one of the important activities that must be carried out to control the disease. This study aims to segment the image of areca palm leaves to determine the types of diseases that attack the leaves of areca palm plants using digital image processing with the active contour method. The stages of segmentation of areca palm leaf images start from resizing after image acquisition, then noise reduction using Gaussian blur then sharpening the image using mean shift filtering, and then color segmentation using HSV and marking objects using active contour segmentation. The segmentation stage can be continued to the next stage, which is image classification to determine the type of disease in the areca leaf image.
