Implementation of Augmented Reality to Promote Civil Engineering Through Laboratory Facilities

Users of civil engineering laboratories are not only students but also outsiders. Information about the equipment available in the laboratory is essential to promote, especially on an application basis. This study aims to create an application that can provide access to information related to the civil engineering laboratory equipment of Riau Islamic University. The method used is with markerless techniques supported by the ARCore SDK library. The results showed that 3D animated objects could appear in distances of 5 to 200 cm indoors and outdoors with light intensity above 5 lx with a waiting time of 10–15 s. Application validation was carried out by involving 20 respondents, of which 94.5% of respondents strongly agreed that the augmented reality application was made to help promote civil engineering laboratory equipment.
