Dual Port Multiple Input Multiple Output Antenna for 5G Communication Applications

This paper presents the design of a two-element MIMO antenna for 5G applications. The dimensions of the proposed MIMO antenna remain at \(30\,\textrm{mm} \times 30\,\textrm{mm}^2\) , and it is constructed from an FR-4 substrate with a 1.6 mm thickness. A defective ground structure (DGS) is employed to enhance the MIMO antenna’s performance. A T-shaped slot is etched onto the radiating elements to increase the impedance bandwidth. Operating between 10 and 30 GHz, the suggested antenna system covers a large frequency range. The suggested antenna system’s S-parameter simulation results show that it can achieve strong isolation in most of the bands between –20 and –40 dB, which is appropriate for MIMO applications
