Sidelobe Reduction Filter for Frank Codes

摘要

Long duration radar signals are preferred for detection of targets at long ranges. However, short duration pulses are used for high range resolution. Pulse compression technique is the solution to use long duration pulses for detection and at the same time achieve range resolution corresponding to short duration pulses at the cost of undesirable correlation sidelobes at the output of the matched filter. This paper presents the sidelobe reduction technique that reduces the peak sidelobe level (PSL) of Frank polyphase codes. From the results presented, it can be observed that the range sidelobes are reduced to the level of ideal Barker codes.
