Individual Resilience to Urban Flooding of Gongming

  • Jing Song

摘要

Urban flooding not only threatens property, but also human health and their well-being. Previous research and practices have emphasized the improvement of infrastructure to prevent urban flooding. To say nothing about the difficulty of such improvements, the increasingly unsure circumstances associated with climate change make certain that no city can be made impregnable. In the past 40 years, especially in western countries, resilience has been expressed as the capacities, strategies, and methods to cope with and adapt to unexpected disturbances by people who are vulnerable to disasters like urban flooding. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate resilience of residents, which can reflect the capacities of residents to cope with and adapt to urban flooding.
