Microfinance offers loans, savings, and other financial services to low-incomeincome families and people. MFIs provide these services. Effective MFIs reduce poverty, improve financial inclusionfinancial inclusion, and empower women. However, MFIs’ sustainabilitysustainability is a serious issue. To survive and continue serving those in need, MFIs must earn enough money to pay their operational expenses and make a profit. The governancegovernance structuregovernance structure of an MFI affects its sustainability and outreachoutreach. The governance structure controls MFIs management and control. It comprises the board, management, and shareholdersshareholders.
