Permeability Prediction of Carbonate Reservoirs in Western UAE Based on Waveform Indication Inversion Technology

摘要

We have recently conducted carbonate reservoir exploration in the Cretaceous Mishrif Formation in the southwestern United Arab Emirates. Regional geological studies have shown that the permeability attribute is a very important reservoir evaluation indicator in the region. However, conventional geophysical analysis methods cannot effectively predict the non-impedance attribute of permeability. This study attempted to use waveform indication inversion method and conducted permeability inversion work for the first time in the region. And a comprehensive feasibility study and quality control analysis were conducted on this method. The research shows that the method has stable calculation process, reliable convergence. The predicted results have high reliability. The final favorable reservoir prediction results have high vertical and horizontal resolution. Which is in line with the geological sedimentary laws of the region and provides strong support for the next exploration well deployment. More importantly, this work has verified the applicability of this technology in carbonate reservoirs in the region, providing a reliable alternative technical solution for exploration work in the Middle East region.
