Investigation and Application of SEC Dynamic Reserve Assessment Method for Fractured Wells in Tight Gas Reservoirs

Decline curve analysis (DCA) has been extensively employed as a straight forward approach for SEC dynamic reserve assessment based on recorded production data. In this process, identifying the main flow regimes is vital, especially for unconventional reservoirs. The presence of linear flow, which may persist several months or even years, is crucial for the accurate assessment of fractured wells. Without this step, the assessment of tight gas reserves using DCA alone commonly results in misleading interpretations. This paper focuses on studying the flow regimes observed in fractured well in tight gas reservoirs. A synthetic reservoir model for a tight gas was created in a commercial numerical simulator to validate the flow regimes. The proposed process was applied to production from Linxing tight gas wells providing a more reliable estimation of SEC dynamic reserves. This study is of practical interest for estimating dynamic reserves of a fractured tight gas well.
