Quantitative Evaluation of the Impact of Different Drainage Effects on the Economic Efficiency of Gas Reservoirs – Take XX Typical Gas Reservoirs with Edge Water as an Example

In order to study the impact of different drainage wells in large water bearing gas reservoirs on the overall development efficiency of the gas reservoir. Three drainage well production models were established, and a dynamic model was developed to analyze the development of water-bearing gas reservoirs under different drainage well scenarios. The financial internal rate of return (FIRR) of the gas reservoir was used as the evaluation index to investigate how different drainage well modes impact the overall FIRR of the gas reservoir. The research results indicate that setting drainage wells with the evaluation goal of increasing the overall gas production of the gas reservoir will improve the internal rate of return of the gas reservoir. The deployment of drainage wells on drainage channels has a higher overall return on gas reservoirs than those not on drainage channels. For drainage wells that are not in the drainage channel but have a certain gas production rate, when the gas production rate is greater than the economic gas production rate, the drainage well has a positive impact on the development efficiency of the gas reservoir. When the gas production rate is less than the economic gas production rate, the drainage well has a reverse impact on the development efficiency of the gas reservoir. For drainage wells that are not on the drainage channel and have no gas production, they can be shut in to reduce operating costs. This research offers valuable insights for optimizing drainage well placement and adjusting development plans.
