Evaluation and Development Methodology for Complex Overseas Fault Blocks - A Case Study of 5 Oilfields Including an in South Sudan

As development time goes on, overseas oil fields, particularly those with complex block development, commonly face complex distribution of residual oil and difficulty in adjusting potential, making it necessary to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of development effects to indicate a direction for future adjustments. However, there is no standardized evaluation system for overseas oil field development, and domestic petroleum industry standards cannot be completely applied overseas. This article conducts research on domestic and foreign development effect evaluation methods, summarizes the characteristics of various evaluation methods, and selects six evaluation indicators including the annual comprehensive decline, water cut-rate, remaining recoverable reserves production rate, and other factors based on the characteristics of overseas oilfield development. This establishes a comprehensive evaluation system for the effective development of natural energy in complex block oil fields overseas, which determines the evaluation indicators and standards for development effectiveness. This evaluation system and methodology have been applied to five complex block oil fields, such as the AN oil field in South Sudan, providing effective guidance for the development of the South Sudan oil fields.
