Compressive Behaviour of Composite Solid Propellant

摘要

The mechanical behaviour of a composite solid propellant (CSP) under compression load is studied in the present research work. The displacement rates considered for the uniaxial compression tests were 1, 7, and 50 mm/min to understand the displacement rate’s effect on the compressive response of the material. The stress–strain response of the CSP is nonlinear and depends on the displacement rate. The lengths of the tested specimens were measured after 24 hours of testing followed by unloading, and it was observed that 90–95% of the initial length of the specimens was regained. The interfacial debonding between matrix and solid particles was observed after compression loading in the micrographs captured using a scanning electron microscope (SEM).
