Simulation Study on Material Gradation of Functionally Graded Beams

Beam structures find their application in wide areas of engineering. Analysis of these systems allows for improved functioning in applications. Functionally graded beams are structures made of FG materials. They are special type of composites that have an excellent flexibility in obtaining desired characteristics. They have continuously varying material properties from surface to surface. The present work focuses on numerical analysis of FG beam using ANSYS APDL. Power law is incorporated along the thickness of the system. Frequency parameters like natural frequencies and mode shapes are obtained by employing layer-wise material gradation of FG beam.
