摘要

This study presents a simple, efficient, accurate method for post-seismic structural health monitoring when an earthquake takes place. There will be infrastructural collapse and that results in disaster for the industry and economy of a country. The one who is structural health monitoring has to take the decision very speedily among alternative management activities with restricted knowledge of the definite health condition of the industrial structure to bring back the industrial operation in normal condition. The decision should be very accurate because these decisions may affect directly or indirectly. In this paper, an effort has been made using numerical simulations in finite element method to find out the characteristic behaviour of a typical industrial building under a typical earthquake ground motion. It’s found that by performing nonlinear time history analysis for the industrial building using ETABS software, results are promising regarding health monitoring. The analyses are performed using finite element models (FEMs), and various software programs for structural calculation in the time history analysis El Centro (6.53), Kobe (6.9), Wenchuan (7.9) earthquakes ground motion data are used to perform the complete seismic structural health monitoring study for the industrial structure. The results show an encouraging trend as far as the placement of measuring sensors is concerned and the implementation of low-cost post-seismic structural health monitoring.
