Numerical Simulation of Flow Developed During Shirodhara

摘要

Flow falling under the influence of gravity and various parameters related to it has been studied extensively in the past (Dias and Vanden-Broeck in J Fluid Mech 213:465–547, [1]; Mathew et al. in Fluid Dyn Res 46, 025508, [2]). A very common problem which has been analyzed to a great extent is the draining of liquid through an orifice at the bottom of a tank which is similar to the arrangement that is observed in the flow process when a person undergoes the Shirodhara treatment. Numerical simulation has been done to study the characteristics associated with the flow developed during the Shirodhara treatment. The most commonly used fluids during this treatment are Mahanarayana and Ksheerabala Oils. The flows were analyzed experimentally and then numerical simulations have been done for validations, this helps us in setting up the more complicated system which involves using a wick and the moving platform.
