Multi-scale Sliding-Time-Window Seismic-Sedimentological Analytical Method and Its Application Examples

摘要

Seismic information can be used to make predictions on sedimentary facies, lithology, and even subsurface fluids; however, due to the complexity of the geological background reflected in seismic data, there will be greater non-uniqueness and uncertainty; therefore, conventional seismic attribute analysis has both good and bad effects. Using the variable-scale sliding-time-window seismic attribute analysis method is to observe the same geological target at different scales in the transverse direction, extract seismic information by sliding the time window up and down along the target layer in the longitudinal direction, obtain several different seismic information distribution maps, combine them with well drilling, well logging and mud logging data for comprehensive analysis, and finally determine the results that are in line with geological understanding, so as to achieve the purpose of reducing non-uniqueness and uncertainty. In the first example in this study, the maximum likelihood factor attribute was used to predict faults and fracture systems, and the results are in good agreement with the actual situation. In the second example, seismic RMS amplitude was used to predict oil and gas in sandstone reservoirs, and the oil-bearing range of the reservoir is basically determined. In the third example, seismic attributes were used to predict sedimentary facies, the provenance of the area and the orientation, scale and strike of the fan delta are determined, and previous misunderstandings are corrected. These results have enhanced people’s confidence in the application of seismic information to solve (interpret) geological problems.
