The Control Effects of Interlayer on the Residual Oil Distribution in Natural Water-Flooding Bottom Water Reservoirs and Development Strategy

Based on the unclear situation of the control effects of natural water-flooding bottom water reservoir interlayer on residual oil distribution of the M block reservoir in Nanbu depression, a reservoir geological model is established. This paper uses reservoir numerical simulation techniques to investigate the characteristics of water cut increasing and residual oil distribution under different conditions such as viscosity, interlayer permeability, thickness, scale, and location. For reservoirs with different oil properties, the interlayers have a large influence on the distribution of residual oil in heavy oil reservoirs. For reservoirs with the same oil properties, the development scale and permeability of interlayers are the most important factors affecting the residual oil distribution, and the smaller the interlayers, the greater the degree of influence. The location of interlayer development is the inferior factor affecting the distribution, while its development thickness does not play an obvious controlling factor. Different development strategies are applied to the wells in different water cut stages in the natural water-flooding reservoir and achieved better application results of the M block reservoir in Nanbu depression according to the research.
