摘要

In India, co-supervision of doctoral research is neither a norm nor an academically widespread practice. Generally, it has been resorted to as a strategy for dealing with administrative contingencies and sometimes out of the need for transdisciplinary inputs into doctoral work felt by the student or the supervisor. The national guidelines about doctoral research and the regulations governing it in some universities refer to it, though not in detail. This chapter discusses the nature of doctoral co-supervision as it is practised in India and the problems thereof.
