Programming Both in and Outside of a Plane Auxeticity in Metamaterials Through Exploiting Hybrid Unit Cells
摘要
The Poisson's effect, which is a compressive force applied longitudinally, has a limited tendency to cause engineering materials used for structural purposes to only grow in the lateral dimensions. We demonstrate varied auxeticity within the context of multi-material unit cells using the bending-dominated behaviour of elementary beams with variable curve. The hybrid unit cells (formed based on their clusters) and 3D dual ring (3DDR) unit cells can exhibit partly auxetic, solely auxetic, strictly non-auxetic, and null-auxetic activity. Less density is produced by the open cell shape of designed auxetic materials. It would be effective and scientifically informative to define multi-directional auxeticity using an analytical method. In order to create adequate confidence in the findings made using the known analytical method, extensive finite element validation has been done. Due to their enhanced mechanical powers, auxetic materials find use in highly challenging sectors.
