Future Perspectives of VCD

In this last chapter, the future prospect of VCD spectroscopy is discussed. The following four fields are proposed as potent perspectives. One is pharmaceutical manufacturing. The method will provide an efficient means due to its rapidness and preciseness in the chirality analysis of drugs and medical samples. The second is medical diagnostics. VCD may demonstrate its ability to detect chiral anomalies caused by diseases in living systems. The third is environmental sciences. Its advantage applicable to transparent substances in UV–vis regions will be utilized to identify an origin for a wide range of unfavorable substances in environments. The fourth is space sciences. The method can pursue the possibility of whether chiral components exist in meteorites or cosmic dust. The knowledge may give a clue to the origin of living organisms on the earth.
