Silk and Wool
摘要
Silk is obtained from silkworm which is the only domesticated insect on the earth. Wool is taken from sheep which is a representative domesticated animal. Both silk and wool are utilized as clothing for human beings. Both have a long cultural and geographical background and have links with historical and political events. In this chapter, the fibre formation process in the living body of silkworms and the complex conformation of wool fibre will be described together with political and historical events related with silk and wool.
