Multi-objective Lichtenberg Algorithm for the Optimum Design of Truss Structures

摘要

This study addresses the multi-objective optimization of truss structures through Lichtenberg Algorithm (MOLA) algorithm. The objective is to simultaneously optimize two conflicting objectives: the truss weight and nodal displacement. The Lichtenberg algorithm (LA) draws inspiration from the natural occurrence of radial intracloud lightning and the formation of Lichtenberg figures. It effectively harnesses the fractal nature of these phenomena to discover optimal solutions. In this research, the MOLA, which has the capability of dealing with continuous variables is applied to two different trusses: 60- and 200-bar truss structures. The results reveal the merit of the MOLA in discovering Pareto-optimum solutions that offer trade-offs between weight and stiffness.
