摘要

Transition metal oxides exhibit a notable theoretical capacitance; yet they suffer from poor electrical conductivity necessitating further enhancement to optimize their electrochemical performance. The present work describes the preparation of Fe2O3 (hematite) and cobalt-doped Fe2O3 nanomaterial via hydrothermal method. The physical characterization is carried out using scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction, whereas the electrochemical performance is characterized by cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and galvanostatic charge/discharge. The cobalt-doped Fe2O3 improves the conductivity of the nanomaterial and increases the pseudocapacitance and charging/discharging of the nanomaterial as the number of cycles increases. So, this improvement in the electrochemical performance of cobalt-doped Fe2O3 makes it a perfect candidate for the supercapacitor application.
