摘要

A gyrotron is a class of high-power beam vacuum tubes that generates millimeter-wave electromagnetic waves by the cyclotron resonance of electrons under influence of strong axial magnetic field. To carry out preliminary characterization of gyrotron and determine its operating frequency, a pulsed electromagnet has been designed, developed and tested. The paper presents the design and test results of a pulsed continuous electromagnet for testing of gyrotron. This magnet can provide high magnetic field of 3.65 T for desired time about 100–400 ms. The paper scope is on design and development of pulse electromagnet for desired magnetic field, magnetic field profile and temporal requirement needed to characterize gyrotron operation.
